Team profile

Thailand

 

Thailand made their FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix debut
in 2002 and have participated in all but the 2007 edition since, which is when
they hosted the World University Games. They missed out on a qualification for
this summer’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games when they finished fifth at the Women’s
World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan from May 14 to 22. 

Their best World Grand Prix performance came in 2012 when
they finished fourth.

They also triumphed at the 2012 Asian Cup and have 11
victories at the South East Asian Games, where they have taken gold in each of
the last seven tournaments.

At the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Championship they finished
joint 17th in their third appearance,

first participating in 1998. In addition, they have competed
at the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup twice and the FIVB Volleyball Women's
World Cup once. Thailand are still chasing a first ever Olympic Games
participation however.

Their joined at the last year Montreux volley master just
blowed up the town as it's the first time for their participation and with
their amazing fans from all around Europe attended to witness their history
finishing as a runner-up.

Coach

In 1999, Danai became a national assistant coach for the
Thailand national men's team. A success with many national & international
competitions then he was appointed as the assistant coach for the Thailand
national women's team in 2001 and 2003 to capture the SEA Games crown in both
occasions.

 

He has been assisting national head coach to help the
Thailand national women's team lift the SEA Games titles for it's consecutive
10th champions.

The team also made history by capturing the Asian crown for
the first-time ever in the 2009 AVC Asian Women's Volleyball Championship in
Vietnam, aside from finishing the amazing fourth place at the 2012 FIVB World
Grand Prix and repeated the feat in the 2013 AVC Asian Women's Volleyball
Championship in front of his monther land witnessed by thounsand of amazing fans.

 

In 2012, he was appointed as the head coach for the Thailand
national girl's youth team to be pitted against strong teams in the 2012 Asian
Girls U17 Volleyball Championship in China. There, he leaded Thailand youth
team to be well prepared for the 2013 Girls & U18 World Championship in
Thailand.

 

Danai has been taking
control the senior women's volleyball team as a head coach since 2016 , he aims
to lead his beloved team to compete in the 2020 Olympic Tokyo games.
