Switzerland, May 31, 2014 – For the first time in history, the German women
have qualified for the final at Montreux Volley Master, after defeating China
3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-21) on Saturday.Margareta
Kozuch and Maren Brinker contributed 15 points each to the German offense against
Hui Ruoqi's and Yang Junjing's (both 12 points) with their Chinese national
team.The
“Schmetterlinge” (Gemany’s nickname meaning “butterflies”), were hungry for the
win. After their first qualification for the semi-finals at the Montreux Volley
Masters, Giovanni Guidetti’s players wanted to get into the final and fight for
the gold medal; but there was one big opponent first: Lang Ping’s Chinese
national team.Both
teams started the match with full power, putting on a spectacular show for
fans. The rallies were long and hard disputed, and the game remained tight.Christiane
Fürst, the middle blocker of VakifBank Istanbul, proved a weapon for the team,
as she made important points with good serves and amazing blocks against the
Chinese. As a result, the Germans won the set by 25-22. The
Germans were on fire now and started strong in the second set. As result,
Giovanni Guidetti’s team pulled ahead early, as they almost shot the Chinese
defenders down. Lang Ping tried to bring some new power in the young Chinese
team by some substitutions, but the Germans were unstoppable and won the second
set 25-18.For

the Montreux Volley Masters. The third set, however, was no easy feat, as both
teams fought for every ball. Germany’s coach Giovanni Guidetti couldn’t stay
calm; as the Italian coach jumped, shouted and pushed his team - and then it
happened: Germany won the third set by 25-21 and the qualified for the first
time in history for the Montreux Volley Masters final. The
goal now for Giovanni Guidetti’s team is clear: to go home with first Gold
Medal at the Montreux Volley Masters.Germany
