2018 Montreux Masters Ambassador Amanda Honoured

Montreux, Switzerland, September 9, 2018- Volleyball fans around the world that have been following the 33rd edition of the prestigious Montreux Volley Masters will recognise her as the commercial face of the competition, and Brazil’s Wing Spiker Amanda Francisco, was honoured on Saturday for her role as tournament ambassador for the 2018 edition, prior to their semi-final with Italy.

The 30-year-old is now a veteran of the Brazilian team named by José Roberto Guimaraes, and has enjoyed limited game-time as the coach hands opportunities to younger players as he seeks to experiment ahead of the approaching FIVB World Championships. Nevertheless, Amanda has gotten onto the scoresheet here, with five points overall, including four spikes and a serving ace.

She is no stranger to success in national colours, particularly in recent years after scooping four medals in 2017; Gold at the FIVB World Grand Prix in Nanjing, and the South American Championship in Cali, Colombia. She also scooped a Gold Medal at last year’s Montreux Masters, to go with a Silver at the World Grand Champions Cup in Japan.

And after a disappointing result in the semi-final on Saturday against Italy, she will have the chance to depart the tournament she has helped shape the face of with a medal, as the Selecao battle for the Bronze Medal and a place on the podium against Turkey on Sunday (09.0918. 13:30 CET) as this year’s showpiece on the Swiss Riviera draws to a close. Given the excitement, action, and drama we have already witnessed this year, it has certainly lived up to the hype worthy of being promoted by a champion of her stature.
