Team profile

Poland

The Poland women’s volleyball team were once one of the top teams in the world. They won the Olympic bronze medal at both the Tokyo 1964 and Mexico City 1968 Games, as well as winning World Championship silver in 1952, and bronze in 1956 and 1962.

More recently, they won back-to-back gold medals at the European Championship in 2003 and 2005, followed by a bronze in 2009. This is in addition to the four silver and four bronze medals they have won at the continental level, mostly in the 1940s and 1950s. Poland returned to the Olympic stage for the first time in 40 years at the Beijing 2008 Games.
They have appeared in every edition of the FIVB World Grand Prix since 2004, reaching a high of sixth place in 2007 and 2010. Last year, they topped Group 2, beating Korea in straight sets in the final.
